Barking Mad Dogie
Most Eccentric Film or TV Actor or Character
Any actor or character known for eccentricity or unusual behaviour, for example Miss Havisham, Michael Jackson, Aunty Jack, Mr Burns or the mad cat lady from The Simpsons.

Bite Me Dogie

Best Animal or Animated Film or TV Character

Any animal or cartoon character, for example the 'Lion' from the Wizard of Oz, Fred or Wilma Flintstone, King Kong, Bugs Bunny, Aslan, Popeye or Olive Oyl.

Loaded Dog Dogie

Best Australian Film or TV Actor or Character
Think Australian - examples may include Muriel, Norman Gunston, Steve Irwin, McLeod's Daughters, Rolf Harris, Kath & Kim, Dame Edna.

Two Dogs Dogie

Best Group from Film or TV

Any group of 2 or more such as Sonny & Cher, Kath & Kel Knight, Connie & Carla, Three Musketeers, X-Men, the Simpsons, Addams Family, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Partridge Family.

Bad to the Bone Dogie

Best Evil Film or TV Character

The badder the better, let your inner evil out on a long leash, for example the Joker or Penguin from Batman, Dracula, Dr Evil, the Godfather, Cruella De Vil, Wicked Witch of the West, Hannibal Lecter.

Dog’s Balls Dogie

Best Cross Dressing Film or TV Character

Entrants must portray a character of the opposite gender or a character that cross-dresses. For example men might portray  Dame Edna, Mrs Doubtfire or Marilyn Monroe. A woman could portray Victor/Victoria, Yentl or Harrison Ford. 

Foxy Bitch Dogie
Best Female Film or TV Actor or Character

This category includes animal and cartoon characters that have an identified gender.


Good Boy Dogie

Best Male Film or TV Actor or Character

This category includes animal and cartoon characters that have an identified gender.

Gold Dogie
- Best of Breed
The Gold Dogie winner is chosen from all the entries on the night.

Silver Paw Awards
The Dogies committee will make a number of Silver Paw Awards for costumes of merit which have not won a Dogie.

About nominating and voting

  • On arrival, you may nominate for up to 2 categories for which you qualify. Nomination is free.
  • You will receive a numbered card which you should be kept clearly visible so that other people can vote for you.
  • Voting is by Dogie Dollars which can be bought when you arrive and during the night .
  • Each vote costs one (1) Dogie Dollar (D$1).
  • To vote, simply write the number of your chosen entrant on the Dogie Dollar and hand to the GREG volunteer collecting the votes.
  • You may vote in each category as many times as you like.
  • You may vote for yourself.
  • The Golden Dogie winner is chosen from all the entries on the night. When the Gold Dogie votes are called for write your chosen entrants card number on the Dogie Dollar and hand to the collector.
